freezer works good, refrigerator is warm. I had a repairman here 1 month ago and he removed the coil cover above the freezer, let everything defrost? for about 45 minutes, plugged it back in and waited 30 minutes for the evaporator fan to come on (it did come on). He closed it up and said I need a new evaporator fan. It has been 30 days and I am having the same problem. I duplicated what he did and it's working. Do I have a bad fan or something else?

I think he was incorrect. The most common problem is the defrost heaters in these GE's. REmove the rear panel in the freezer and use a hair dryer to thaw everything out, if frozen. Near the coils is where the heater is located, look at the glass tube see if they are discolored(brown or blackened) This should be the pat you need Part Details - GE Heater, defrost, part number: WR51X10027. pulled everything out of the freezer and don't see a panel to remove. The freezer is on the bottom on my refrigerator. looking for a diagram...

okay I found the heater tube, perfectly clear....frost on the coils, fan running....

Is there ice build up on the coils?
If not check the air flow into the refrigerator compartment, the damper may be closed.

okay I took the cover off and it was hot under the cover, the coils had been defrosted, i noticed some ice where the coil either enters or returns at the back of the fridge on right side as you look in...the coils were frosted over when I first took the cover off earlier today, I then left the fridge unplugged and cover off for about 45 minutes, I then plugged the fridge back in and the evaporator fan started and the coils slowly frosted over. It has been working fine since, but this is what it did a month ago... again the heater tube is clear...

Make sure # 56 on the picture isn't blocked, since it is going thru a defrost we can rule that out. So it has to be an obstruction of some kind blocking the air going into the frig from the freezer.
