Hi, i have the whirlpool combo washer and dryer unit. anyway my dryer was taking about 2 to 3 cycles to dry so i bought a brand new heating element and it worked ok for about a month or two. It didn't dry the load in one cycle but it almost did. then my wife went to the dryer and it had run all night long. the timer stays stuck in the cool down mode before it goes to the off cycle according to the knob on the timer. but since the timer has stayed on and the machine won't turn off the dryer will not heat at all. Do you think the timer is causing this? and what else besides the element will make it not dry completely the first cycle of drying? The timer knob does this in all modes of drying. i tried every cycle the thing has and same results? please let me know something if someone out there has any clues. thank you. Jeremy

here's a parts breakdown of your unit Model LTE6234AW0. If you have an ohm meter test the thermostats for continuity. And check your air flow system for an obstruction(that maybe what's causing the dryer to take longer to dry) Nat

Hi, thanks for the reply. are the thermostats located on the heating element framwork. the ones that i had to unplug to get the old element out when i put the new one in? should the thermostats have continutiuty or no? when i hooked up the wires to the element i didn't note which wires went where becasuse they were all the same color. can this effect it. all the wires were black. i hooked them up in order by the things on the element housing but there are two wires on each thing and i didn't know which way they went. thanks for your time. jeremy

Ther thermostats should have continuity, if they don't they need replaced. And yes, some thermostats are on the heater housing. Also test the element for continuity.

Hello Gene, yes it was one of the thermostats. The circuit was open. Found it on **** with the other thermostat for $8.50. Thats a cheap fix to get a dryer working. I bridged over the thermostat after i took it out of the circuit and the elemented fired up red. thank you for your advice.
