Is anybody aware of a problem replacing the original water pump with the re-designed water pump part #35-6780 on a Maytag Performa 2300aww washer? I was just replacing mine due to a bad bearing, and found the new re-designed part shipped to me didn't have the metal base plate anymore. I read online the new pump doesn't need the base plate, just re-attach in same spot as old. But when I did that, I found the outlet tube from the pump sat too low and wouldn't allow me to screw back on the cabinet frame (which I had taken off to replace the snubber ring also). I ended up using wire cutters and pliers to tear and bend the frame below the pump outlet tube so I could screw the cabinet frame back into place and leave a little room for the lower pump outlet tube.
Is there something else I could have done? Am I missing something? I don't think I installed it incorrectly, but anything is possible. Anybody else have this problem?

I don't know of any problem with the redesigned pump, so I cannot really explain what is happening.
