The oven will not work on my Amana stove and I am quite sure the problem is the ignitor. I would like to replace this myslef, as I believe it is relatively simple. I know I have to access this from the bottom and there are a number of heat shield whcih need to be removed. My question is: how many shields need to be removed and what is involved in this replacement?
Thanks!

There is only one flame spreader, but it is easy. Just make sure you unplug the stove before this attempt. You also do not have to worry about shutting off the gas. Tom

Hello: I received a reply recently to this question, but would like to request little more detail on this replacement. My range (Amana AGS781WW) shows two heat shields on the exploded cabinet view and on the oven exploded oven assembly view it then shows that you get to the oven “pan” after you have removed the two heat shields from the bottom. My question is, will I need to remove the oven “pan” to get to the igniter? I ask this because it appears that the gas line feeds through this “pan” and I am a little nervous about that. I do realize that the igniter is supplied with 120 volts AC and I need to shut off the circuit breaker to the stove, but as you stated in your previous e-mail, I do not have to shut off the gas, correct?
Thank you for your assistance.
Artie

Its hard to tell by looking at the picture. Be brave, and check it out. Tom
