My Maytag Atlantis won't agitate. It just make a horrible grinding noise during the wash cycle and then advances to spin and rinse. No agitating during the rinse cycle either.

Easy fix?

Probably a bad transmission, not an easy fix. Unfortunately the fix is to replace it.

you mean replace the washing machine - yes?
It's ok, we want one of those front loading ones anyway, but I don't want to get into fixing this one if it's the transmission. We got the machine for free.

Washer spins and drains but does not agitate need to know how take it apart I already have tub and transmission on the floor in one piece
