My kenmore coldspot refrigerator just started to gather water on the top and bottom shelves. Any ideas and suggestions... Serial # is EL2332010. I inadvertinly posted this in the washer repair area earlier.

Most likely the drain line is frozen behind the rear panel in the freezer.

Could not find any info using the given Model Number BUT Many fridges drain the freezer defrost water into a funnel like part at the back of the fresh food section. This then drains down a tube to the drip pan under the machine. Could be your tube is plugged. Remove the kick plate and check that dust etc. has not plugged the tube at the drip tray. Remove the funnel and blow the tube clear. If you have a compressor this will do. Sometimes just blowing into it will do, just tape a straw to it. Often the end is pretty gross or it is difficult to get at. Also a turkey baster with water in it will often clear it.
After it is clear and here is where a turkey baster really comes in handy, flush the tube with a 10% bleach solution. This should kill and clean out the gunk growing in the tube.
Might as well clean your condenser coils underr the fridge while you are at it. |
