We bought our Whirlpool Acubake oven/stove approximately four years ago. One of its features is self-clean function which I never used until a weekago. I decided to try it out, pushed the self-clean button and the digital panel displayed cleaning time to be a little over three hours; pushed start and the door lock clicked and the cleaning began. With about 1hr 40 min left the stove suddenly shut off - that is the digital panel went blank, all functions ceased to operate with the exception of the gas burners. The oven door lock did not disengage. Needless to say, we were and are very upset about this incident. I pulled out ther stove, removed the back panel hoping there was a fuse, found none, but did disengage the oven door lock selinoid. So my question is, is there anhy other in-line fuse or any thing else that will stop the control panel from lighting, or do I need to replace the whole panel? Thanks Dan McNally danmcnally@stny.rr.com

Look on the control board and see if there is a a wire coming off of it, with a resister incased in plastic, connecting to another wire. I don't see it on the diagram. Sometimes they are there, and diagram, does not show it. Also, when you took the back off did you see a round part, about the size of a quarter with 2 wires coming to it? It surprises me there is no saftey on the oven. I just don't see anything on the breakdown. It sounds like the oven got to hot, and then shut down. Look for that resister I mentioned on the board. If not, you should replace the board, and the sensor. Tom ApplianceEducator.com
