I am constantly (every 90 days) having to disassemble the bottom of my diswasher to clear debris (cherry pits, bits of plastic, etc) from the intakes to get my diswasher cleaning properly. the drain area is wide open, with no screen to catch in the botto0m of the dishwasher.

Is there some sort of aftermarket screen i can add to the bottom of my diswasher to prevent the debris from going down into the drain assembly?
This is a poor design, and I hope someone has found a reliable way to overcome this.

Only way to prevent problems is to avoid putting hard objects in the dishwasher.
This is an energy saver dishwasher that uses a chopper to grind up food particles. Hard objects sufficiently large will get stuck in the drain cover and not go against the chopper, thus saving the chopper from damage.
A screen over the drain will just need cleaning more often.
