We have a Jen air side by side...and either the freezers working and the fridge is freezing the food OR the freezer isn't working and thawing things and the fridge is warm. It's either one or the other but never a normal setting. any advice?

When the refrigerator stops, pull the back panel and check compressor and condensing fan, is the compressor very hot and is the fan working?
