The Jenn-Air emits an alarm with FC flashing. The only way to stop the alarm from returning is to cut all electric power, then restore. Help please.

According to the manufacturer instructions "FC" error code means "Communication error between boards" and correction is to replace the power relay board (#29 on the break down diagram).

- The part number for the power relay board is AP4008573

Here are the break down diagrams for the Jenn Air range Model SVD48600W

Thank you Gene. I have also read that it might be good to (1) ohm the J2 harness; (2) untangle the blue and orange wires (if tangled) or, if that is not successful, (3) try a noise suppressor assembly. This was suggested from TS bulletin 537 (5/98) as being less expensive than replacing the power relay board. Are you familiar with a noise suppressor assembly and where would I find one? Thanks

If your range made after November of 1997 then this noise suppressor assembly has been installed by the manufacturer. In your post you mentioned the age of the range between 5 to 10 years old.

You can test the wire harness first but, based from my experience, a faulty power relay board is more likely the cause of the problem.

- The part number for the "J2" wire harness is AP368842

Thanks again, Gene. Two more questions: (1) Would a bad power relay board (AP4008573) also be responsible for the convection fan to begin operation at 220F even when convection is not selected? This now happens all the time while the FC alarm is an intermittent thing. (2) Where can I find written assistance on changing the power relay board - hopefully some diagrams are also available. Thanks again for your help.

(1) Most likely - yes, but there is a small chance for the control board too.

(2) The power relay board is located on the back panel and can be accessed by removing the control panel. You can use a piece of 1/4" tube to unlock the mounting plastic legs. Remove wires from the old board one at a time and connect them to the new one according to the marks and/or labels.

I currently have the same problem. svd48600b
I've replaced both the Power Relay and "(Clock) Control" Boards and checked the J2 wire harness and it appears fine.

One problem occurs when ever I turn on any of the gas burners. Sometimes when the igniter starts clicking the Clock Display goes black then it resets to a flashing 12:00. Other times I get a FC code and the Alarm beeps constantly and have to trip the circuit breaker to reset it.

If I light the gas burner with a match I don't have any problems.
Is there some connection between the gas burner igniter and the circuit boards?

What else is there to check or replace?

Jim

Hi Jim,

Sounds like there is a problem with the power source. I would recommend to start from the outlet, then the power cord, the terminal block and all wires. Check them all for loose connections.

I've replaced the the circuit board behind the stove that the J2 cable connects into, and the Clock circuit board and the front touch panel that the clock circuit board is attached to. I've ohmed the J2 wires and connectors and all checks out. I've checked the power cord form the plug to the board and every connection. All seems fine.
I'm still having the problem where the clock goed black then resets to 12:00 every time I turn on any of the gas burners and the igniter starts clicking.
Could it be the spark module?

Did you check the outlet itself for proper wires connected to? Try to plug the power cord in a different outlet, using an extension cord.
