The turntable on our Maytag microwave will not turn. When we try to use the unit, we hear a grinding noise, and some jerking, but no consistant turning. I was told that this is probably a broken gear motor, appliancepartspros part number AP220088. Assuming I can get the bottom of the machine off, is this something an amateur can do by himself? Is it likely that this is the only part I might need? Any trick to doing the job?

This part is pretty simple to replace yourself. Remove the glass tray and the coupler. Remove the bottom panel and the wires from the old motor. Remove the two screws secured the motor to the body. Assemble everything in the reversed order. - The part number for the turntable motor is AP330088 Here are the break down diagrams for the Maytag microwave Model CMV1100AAWGene.

Thanks for the help. Ordered the part and am standing by with my screw driver awaiting its arrival so I can "cook" again!
