We have a Kenmore electric range, and noticed the broiler element is not working. The ultrabake feature uses broiler and bottom element to regulate temperature, and so now we burn everything on the bottom unless switching racks. Sears repairman said it needed a electric control board for 435.00, with labor it comes to 653.00. We were wondering if we could locate the part elsewhere, and if this is a very complicated repair for us to do ourselves.

It is a Kenmore Electric Range, glass top, with "Triple Task" oven drawer, self cleaning, "largest usable oven capacity in north America", purchased in Jan 2004. I couldn't find it on this site either. Thanks for any help!

Could find no info using the given Model Number. Did find info using 66592169300 Operators manual http://www.managemyhome.com/mmh/lis_pdf/OWNM/L0502610.pdfSears parts site KENMORE | Model #66592169300 | RANGE, ELECTRIC | SearsPartsDirect.comThis may be close to your unit. Control board for this one may be obsolete. Next question is does it really need a control panel Did you watch the Sears rep check the unit. What did they do? Did the pull the element and measure it with a meter? I did notice that there is a thermal fuse on this unit. On most units it would kill both the bake and broil elements but there are some out there that it just kills the broil. Gene probably has much more experience with Kenmore's than I do but I thought the above may be useful. |

I absolutely agree with denman. We can not be sure that the problem is a bad control board or any other part unless we can see the tech sheets and/or the wiring diagram for this particular model and perform some tests, using your, CountBlessings, hands and skills. Look for the tech sheets behind or inside the control panel. Post it here if you will find them. If not, then you can order the tech sheets from Sears ($4.55). Part number is 4454270 Gene.

Hi there,
I just spoke to the Sears repairman who looked at the stove and he said he did test the broil element with an ohmmeter. He said the broil element is working fine, but its the control board that is bad.
We have yet to pull the tech sheets out of the back of the oven, as we are always using it. We hope to get to that after lunch.
Are there more things to check before replacing the control board?
We really appreciate your help with this repair! Thanks!

We have to verify if there is a such fuse in your oven and test it, if there is one. Gene.
