My old ice maker had two pieces fall out and the white wire with what appears to be a sensor attached to it fall out. I contact Samsung (how helpful they are) and they referred me to my service center. I spoke with them and they suggested a new ice maker. I ordered an ice maker from appliance pros and installed it myself. It has been in since Sunday at 7pm (currently Monday at 1145am). No ice. If I hit the test switch, the cube tray will rotate and then fill up with water. Is there a way to reset the unit other than the test switch or what should I try next? I did flip the breaker when I finished installing so I assumed that would "reset" the unit. The water filter was just changed as well.

Bumping this to say that after the test button is hit and the tray rotates, dumps and refills, the unit beeps twice. It does not make more ice on its own, but when I hit the test switch the ice that does get made is fine. Is there a sensor or something that is supposed to be telling the unit to make more ice that could be malfunctioning?

Check the temperature at the ice maker. It suppose to be bellow 1.5°F. If the temperature is correct, then the problem could be a bad ice maker sensor.

Thanks Gene. I bought a fridge thermometer and verified the temperature is -2. The ice maker sensor is attached to the icemaker so when I replaced the ice maker I replaced the sensor as well via the new icemaker. The people who answer question on the main parts pages said :

You will need to test the icemaker sensor. When checking the voltage of MAIN PCB CN90 #3 CN90#4 : shall be between 4.5V~1.0V. If the voltage is not there, you will need to replace the main board AP4139234. Hope this helps.

Would you concur this is my next step?

Gene,

I did a voltameter reading and wasn't getting any reading. I guess that means that I need the new board. Is this something that is doable for an average diy'er? Is it just unplugging all the wires, taking out the old, and then plugging them into the new? Also, this fridge is only a little over 2.5 years old. Any reason why this would happen so fast and anything I could be doing to prevent it from happening again? I really appreciate all the advice with this. Hopefully I'm a done deal after this new board.

I don't think this job is too difficult if you know how to handle a simple tools.

Unfortunately the model number you posted does not come up and I'm not able to provide any specific instructions.

Yes, it was just the clip that held the sensor in the ice maker. I now don't believe I ever needed a new ice maker, I just needed to clip the sensor back on. Also, now my freezer is at 10 degrees. I am thinking I am just going to bite the bullet and call the Samsung repair center. The coils on the compressor are not frozen, I did check that. So if the thermostat is bad is that different from the board? Or is the bottom line that the board would most likely solve that problem as well? There isn't any soddering involved in putting the board in is there? I have the service manual.

Double posting to say I called the service center (wife wanted me to give up playing Mr. Fix It.) They think from a 2 minute description from me its the evaporator. That is still under warranty luckily. My question is do you think the board needs replaced as well? They said they won't order multiple parts. Depending on what you say I was going to call back and ask them if I order one and have it there would they put it in. I could always return it if we don't need it.

The board was questionable because of the problem with the ice maker. So, I don't see why it has to be replaced now.
