My refrigerator stopped cooling and although the fan seemed to be working (felt it when I placed my hand in freezer) I found that the relay switch was completely burned. There are what seems to be 3 wires. One of them is burned at the tip and was no longer connected to the relay switch. I ordered the part and was wondering if, since the switch burned, would this affect another part of the refrigerator. Thanks for any help. I'm expecting the switch in the mail tomorrow and I've never dealt with refrigerators. HELP!

That is the door switch, controls the fan and light bulb AP3108668 I assumed you shorted it to get the fan motor running.

The switch is in back of the refrigerator near the floor.

I ordered it from AppliancePartspros. I'm waiting for the part to come in but my invoice has these 2 numbers

AP3885081 and then (8201786) It says "compressor starting device"

Thank You:)

They plug into the compressor terminals behind the side cover.

Don't think I'm going to get any help here although I purchased this part here. I know you need to connect the wires, but this part I received is different from the burned out one. Well, I guess I'll have to call in a professional.

If you failed to take a picture of the wires and have no meter, you would be advised to call for service. It has been my experience that whenever I see burnt wires at the compressor, it usually indicates a shorted compressor.

It's actually easier to install the new (different) part than it seems. The instructions that are included are very clear and make it easy to do. I just did the same repair a couple weeks back and was initially worried but it was pretty simple. This assumes your compressor is still ok. Let me know if you have any questions.
