The top of the dryer is much warmer than usual so we are getting heat, yet the clothes are not drying. Exhaust hose was checked, cleaned, and there is no noiceable blockage or excesssive lint. Our home is only 6 months old so I would not think there was a clog somewhere in the tubing thru out the house. What could it be?

turn on your dyrer and check your outside vent to see how much airflow is actualy making it outside. this will tell you if you have a restriction in the vent line

will do. Will check to see if I'm getting good airflow from dryer too.

plenty of airflow from dryer. If vent leading outside is clogged is there anyway to clear it myself or do we need to call a tech?

you can clear it your self, but it may entale some crawling under the house if thats where your venting goes. it so you will find 1 of 2 possibilitys. Flex venting (great from the dryer to the wall) or straight venting. remember the shortest and least restance for you venting is a straight line(flex tubing tends to sag and create nests of lint) but is easier to pull out. and straight vent allows for less pockets(lint nests) but is oftimes rivited together. this is one you gotta decide get dirty and save some money or pay what might be a hefty cost (Techs dont realy like to get THAT dirty)LOL
