Maytag Performa will not wash after changing snubber

Hello, I was having the out of balance problem so I changed the snubber following the directions posted here. It seems to have fixed the balance problem but now the washer will not wash. It fills, you hear the motor try to start, then you get the hot motor smell, and it turns off (overload protector?). It spins like crazy, and if you open it during the spin it comes almost immediately to a stop. As you are looking down on the basket I can turn it clockwise by hand, although it seems stiff, but I cannot turn it counterclockwise at all. Washer cycled fine before the snubber change, so could I have misaligned something? I did not remove the drive pulley or any of the washers. Also when I removed the brake stator there was no spring pressure at all, thought that was curious. Any help will be appreciated!

Remove the belt and turn the tranny pulley in the agitate direction, If locked up, you have tranny trouble.

Tried turning by hand, will not turn, however tranny worked fine before changing snubber, any ideas what caused this? Sorry for the delay in response, this is the first day off I've had to mess with it. Thanks for your help.

You probably have a busted spring in the brake housing. You will need to pull the tub out again, remove the pulley and brake housing to fix.
