My Whirlpool dryer is running but has no heat and the timer doesn't advance. I have power at the wall and have tested all the thermostats and the thermal cut off along with the element. I believe that the timer is bad but I am just a home owner and don't want to spend $80 on a timer to find that I missed something any suggestions?

Here are your parts Replacement parts for WHIRLPOOL LER4634JQ2 29" ELECTRIC DRYER | AppliancePartsPros.comSee the attachment for the wiring diagram It could be the timer but if you have no heat and the timer does not advance in manual or timed dry cycles than I would suspect the power as both the heater and the timer run off of 240 volts. You must check for the 240 between L1 and L2. If you use Neutral as a common and see 120 on both L1 and L2 it is not good enough as one side of the line can feed back through components so you will see 120 on both sides but you do not have both sides of the line to provide the 240 volts. I hope the above makes sense. Try flipping the breaker off/on slowly a couple times. Sometimes you can loose half the line without actually tripping the breaker. If this does nothing, check the voltage at the plug L1 to L2 should be 240 volts L1 to Neutral and L2 to Neutral, both should be 120 volts. If OK Unplug the unit and check the wires at the terminal strip in the machine to make sure none are loose or burned out If OK Check the power at the terminal strip. Do this with the heater off and on. Be careful as 240 volts is lethal !!! |
