I'm using an older refrigerator in my basement that is unconditioned. Temperature range is between 60 and 70 degree this time of yr. The problem I'm having is there are ice crytals on the food in the freezer and the food is being freezer burnt. What is this caused from?
There is no frost in the freezer itself. I checked the gasket on the freezer door with a piece of paper and its tight all the way around. I do have a small tear in the refrigerator door gasket on the bottom of door.
Is this a problem of thawing and refreezing or is it something to do with the gasket letting extra moisture into the refrigerator.

Most likely the gasket is letting extra moisture in the unit.
