Help!!! My Maytag dryer has started screaming at me!! It runs and heats fine. Its just incredibly noisy. The sound is a constant high pitched squeal/chirping sound. I've got 2 little girls so doing laundry is a nonstop event in my house. I've gotta get this fixed QUICK!!! So guys, where do I start???;)

Here is your parts breakdown Model MDE9206AYWAnd a service manual http://www.servicematters.com/m...ibrary/docs/16023086.pdfCan be a number of things, most likely culprit is the belt idler wheel from your description of the noise. The following is usually more of a scraping noise but may also be something caught between the drum and the case (wires from under wire bras are famous for this). Just feel around the back and front of the drum. Try to isolate where the noise is coming from in the dryer. This will help locate the bad part. This may be nigh onto impossible. Open it up and check for slop and wear the following Belt idler wheel Rear support rollers Front glides Motor bearings. Any signs that the drum is rubbing on the front or back. If it is a roller/wheel be sure to also check the shaft for wear as it may also need replacing. Replace the parts as necessary. Give the unit a good cleaning inside Clean and check your vent system |
