Your tranny is not supposed to spin while agitating. This will bunch up the clothes resulting in the unbalanced condition. Probably need a new tranny.

Replace the break pads. there is 3 of them and they come in a kit with new bolts.

Great advice and I think you can lift the whole tranny with a pry bar and shims without pulling off the springs.

AaronG and richappy,

Thanks for the advice. I'll probably order new springs and a break kit but not for some time. The wife reached her limit and I bought her a new washer. I'm keeping this one for now and will make these repairs in the near future.

Thanks all for the assistance. I'll post the results in a few weeks when I can get back to this.
