I have a kenmore series 90 washer that is not agitating. It spins and drains but it seems like it is trying to engage but just wont while agitating. I have replaced the cogs and the agitator splines are not stripped. I have removed the Gearbox/trans. Is there anyway I can check the gearbox to see if that is the problem? Also I reinstalled the Gearbox meanwhile and ensured I lined up the break and clutch assembly and ran the machine empty. It worked fine the first time and then went back to the same problem.

I would first take off the agitator and see if the dogs are still not in right. Sometimes that happens and you need to eliminate that. Since it worked once I doubt if the gearcase is the problem.

If the motor runs in agitate, you probably jammed something and the coupler broke. To test tranny, turn the tranny coupler counterclockwise, tranny spindle should go back and forth.
