Our Kenmore washer does not agitate/spin. Front door indicator shows door is locked (door has been veified to be locked). Water comes in/out. Timer goes thru cycle. Just no agitation/spin. What are the possible troublshooting steps or causes?

Check the door switches. The model number you posted does not come up.

Found when I took the bottom panel off there was taped in the inside of the washer detailed troubleshooting instructions. I followed the instructions for "motor does not work". This involved taking off various connectors and measuring voltages, etc. [connections to the speed control board] Everything measured OK which was puzzling. As recommended by the troubleshooting guide I took off connections to the timer and measured there. Everything looked OK. I reassembled and the unit started working so I put it back together thinking a bad connection (wires/connectors looked OK visually). Washer worked for 2 weeks then the high spin mode on all 3 wash modes (normal, delicates, etc) stop working. Looking at the circuit diagram for the 3 modes noticed that low out flow might cause the high spin mode to be inhibited. Decided to disassemble the plumbing going to/from the drain pump. Discovered $2.05 in coins in the plumbling leading up to the drain pump and most importantly I found a nickle lodged in the outflow portion blocking a portion of the outflow. Removed all the change and the nickle lodged in the outflow. Flushed out teh drain hose for good measure. Washer is now re-assembled. Have done 4 loads so far and the high spin mode is working!

:D

My symptoms are the same as the thread I followed. But I bought the machine from a repair shop in 2000 and the instructions are missing. I installed the door side of the lock/switch mechanism with same resulte. I can clearly hear the timer trying to change rotation and functions. I just took $1.50 out of the pump inlet(you could get $10.00 in the sump tube) but no change in function. I can unplug the motor harness but not having a diagram I don't know what to check. Could you direct me too or send a diagram for this test. This is a great service you guys provide! Thank you,

Hello,

You may want to start the troubleshooting from testing the door lock. Remove the door lock and measure the wax motor resistance. The normal reading suppose to be about 1500 Ohms.

- The door lock assembly Part number: 131763202
Part number: 131763202

If there is nothing wrong , follow the instructions from the attached file and post the results.
