This just happened to ours too! Our frigidaire is 4 years old - I let it sit all weekend, then if worked fine on Monday. After drying 1 load, it quit and wouldn't start up again. I let it sit for a few hours and it worked for about 20 minutes and made a screeching noise and stopped. Today a repair man came and I have a feeling he was feeding me some bull.

He opened the door, looked inside, closed it, took off the control knob (where you set the time) started it, let it run for a few minutes (of course it doesn't do a thing but run perfect) calls his boss, comes out to talk to me (I had to go feed my baby) and said that the motor is going out and the drum rollers need replaced. It will cost us $225 so we probably shouldn't fix it. We can buy a new dryer for $300.

Now, 8 hours after the repairman came, I've dried another 2 loads and it's been fine. kinda squeaky here and there.... so I'm thinking it's a belt. I have no idea how this repairman (and this is our locally owned appliance store in town - a town of 15,000 so not a big town and no other repairman options). could figure out my motor was bad and the drum rollers are bad??? I had to pay him $50 to come spend the 5 minutes he did doing nothing more than what I did.

Our only other option is to pay $100 to have another repairman come from the next town (45 minutes away).

We are not financially able to buy a brand new dryer - even for $300. Of course - our local appliance store doesn't have anything less than $600. grr.

oh - I did call the store where we bought it - they said it was rare for the motor to go out this early, they don't sell frigidaires anymore, won't give us credit towards purchasing another unit. (this town is the 45minute away one).

I hope someone has some good advice!! for you and I!
