Purchased an overload relay repair kit to replace melted original. Original unit contained 4 wires - two orange, one white and one blue; however, the replacement repair instructions only references three wires - one each of orange, white and blue. I know that the blue should connect to the overload. My two questions are:

1. Which combination of the remaining three wires (orange, orange, and white) connects to the white jumper on relay terminal number 2 that was included with the repair kit?

2. Which combination of these wires connects to terminal number 3 on the relay?

Thanks!

Seems like you did not get the factory replacement part which will be identical to the old one. You can save a lot of grief by getting the correct, identical part.

I realize this comes to late to help the original poster, but it may help someone else.

This Maytag sounds like a newer Whirlpool manufactured unit. It utilizes the capacitor in both start and run modes. The two oranges tie together at the capacitor or compressor PTC relay (your new part) run terminal, one goes to the capacitor and the other to the line at the molex plug. The blue is the common/center terminal. The white lands on the the compressor start terminal and the other capacitor terminal.
