Yes, they use the same parts. The diode is a key component for the magnetron to work, and therefore would advise you to purchase it along with the mag tube. It usually fails when the mag tube fails.

thanks, I really appreciate the help. I think $45 is a little steep for a diode (simple electronic component) is there a general diode that I could purchase that's not from the vendors, but rather an electronics store that would be equivalent? Thanks.
