My GE WWA8350GBL WH washer is working fine - no noises, no anything to tell me it's broken other than the grease on the floor. The leaking grease started about a year ago with a couple of tiny spots I happened to catch during spring cleaning, but has gotten much worse as time has gone on.

Does anyone know where this grease might be coming from so I can repair it before it's loss does permanent damage to the machine? (Even though this machine is around 18 years old, I still love it, and I'd hate to lose it.) Is there an easy way to isolate the location of the leak without tipping the machine over? Is this a repair my husband can do (like no special tools required) or is it best to call in the pro's on this?

Its coming from the TRANSMISSION, The bottom seal has failed. At 18 years old you have done well with it, I would just run it till it dies. Its a $200plus job to repair it,and It could also be getting RUSTY.
