I have a Maytag Top Loading washer that the Bleach and softner will not operate. I've replaced the valve, done the test in the manual. Solenoid humms, water runs, ALL in the drum however??? Appears New valve not opening?? ANY ideas are appreciated. I have cleaned all of the lines and containers.

Rcoalson,

Which valve did you replace,

The fill valve,

Part number: AP4008714
Part number: AP4008714

Or the dispenser valve,

Part number: AP4008714
Part number: AP4008714

Sounds like you need the dispenser valve and clean the fill hose debris screens and flush the faucets.

I think you'll be fine after that.

:) :) :)

Yep let's ID the Valve you are talking about the one Joe is referencing is the Water Inlet valve in both of his pics.

I think Joe ment to post this Part Details - WHIRLPOOL Dispenser valve, part number: AP4035315

My 1st pic the water inlet valve is on the far left and centered in the pic is the dispenser valve.

To test you would first turn on the Water Inlet valve in Service Mode then one at a time turn on the Bleach and Softener valves in Service Mode. Is that the process you used to check for water flow thru the dispenser valve assembly?

This is Dick responding;

Lower Left is Water Inlet Valve the Pic's that Joe showed you.

I did not get an answer as to how you tested in Service Mode;

""To test you would first turn on the Water Inlet valve in Service Mode then one at a time turn on the Bleach and Softener valves in Service Mode. Is that the process you used to check for water flow thru the dispenser valve assembly?""...........Dick

Another thought;

Is there a possibility the washer lid is distorted/bowed. Check for dispenser port alingment into the water channels leading to the reservoirs as seen in the pic below.

If no this would be my next step.

Turn on those valves in Service Mode and measure 120VAC form the respective relays on the Control Board to the field coil of the dispenser valve assembly ;

With the water source turned off and if you are OK with measuring 120VAC with a DVM. Turn on the dispenser valve in service mode and verify 120VAC at the field coil of each solenoid valve.

K3 for Bleach dispenser valve.
K5 for the Softener dispenser valve.

If the schematic is still in the console take a look and you will see the relays I refference on the Control Board that switch 120VAC to the field coils of the dispenser valve...............Dick

Glad to help Joe.

I hope it works out for rcoalson.

I find the machine very easy to work on once you get some hands on.

I have done everything you can do to the machine from Control Board troubleshooting to Outer Tub/Spinner Support bearing replacement.

Take care........Dick

I really appreciate your help, I tested both sides of the dispenser valve and they both had 120v, I checked the lid it's not distorted or clogged. I did the test per the manual, put it in test mode, delicates then wrinkle control for softner and bulky for bleach and spin for water?? Both humm but no water. I bought a NEW dispenser valve and still no help, ANY help and thoughts would be appreciated. Thank you.
