I do have 116 volts between the black and orange wires on the harness connector. Looking at the installed diffuser's connector, the top pin is the Yellow/Red wire, the middle pin is the black wire and the bottom pin is the Orange/Blk wire. The bottom connector only has 2 pins (the middle one is blank). On my original diffuser the harness connected to the bottom connector as top connector only had 2 pins. I'm wondering if the problem is in the connection where I need to put the Orange/Blk wire in the Top Pin and the Yellow/Red wire in the bottom pin. On the motor itself I have an open circuit between Pin 1 (the Yellow/Red wire) and Pin 2 (the Black wire), is this normal?

This morning even with the diffusser not working frig temp was at 40 and freezer at 0 degrees.

There is no circuit between Black and Yellow/red, you're OK there and you have 120 VAC to the damper motor( L1 voltage and neutral to the motor are OK). the Yellow red wire is the switch circuit, you have intermittent 120 VAC on that wire, depending on what the thermistor/control board see's as a resistance circuit from the thermistor.

My diagram for your unit shows 3 wires

Pin 4 has The Yellow/Red wire, sw2 circuit.
Pin 5 has the Black wire, Constant L1 voltage to the damper motor
Pin 6 has the Orange/Black wire, constant neutral to the damper motor.
I'd expect the 2 additional pins would be used on a different model, using different circuits and or control board.

As for the wiring, you should not have to switch or move wires, unless there was a change in the part, and then you'd have recieved an instruction sheet advising you, how and where to switch the wires, or an additional conversion wire harness.

Joe is the pin configuration as listed above starting out as pin 1 on the bottom of the installed diffuser connection and pin 6 on the top, with pin 2 being blank? If so than my harness connector has the Yellow/Red wire on pin 6 and the Orange/Blk wire on pin 4. Reverse of what you listed above. The Black Wire is on pin 5.

Normally, you start at the top and work down, so pin #1 should be empty, Pin#2 empty,etc.,

Pin4,5,and 6 should be at the bottom, in the configuration I described in the previous post.

There in lies the problem. On pins 4,5 & 6, my pin 5 is blank so if I plug the harness connector into the bottom, the black wire doesn't connect to anything. On the original diffuser Pin #2 was blank. If the Yellow/Red Wire and the orange wire are configured wrong then it's sending steady voltage to the diffuser keeping it closed. I just picked up my new thermistor and no change.

Are the connector pins on the new diffuser, in the same location as your original diffuser ?

I cannot find any tech notes or parts notes, specifying a change in the wiring, or pin configuration. I'll need to check with the manufacturer tech services, maybe there is something that changed ???

On the original diffuser, the harness connected to the bottom connector which would be Pins 4,5 & 6 as you have stated. On the original diffuser pin 3 was blank (no connector). On the new one pin 5 is blank so that's why I've connected the new diffuser to pins 1,2 & 3. I also tried it on pins 4,5 & 6. The wiring configuration seems to be the problem. As long as the frig is closed it's maintaining 40 degrees with the cold air flow coming in from the air hole that blows into the door area.

I need a couple of days to get this figured out, and find out what part goes into your unit. I'll need to get everything together and work things out at this end. It should have been a "plug and play" situation, likke I said, but there's something wrong somwwhere.

I'll get back to you as soon as possible,

I think we have it figured out,

We both have orderred the wrong part number.

We need to order:

AP3084126 (2216112) is the correct part.

Based on the information we have.

Re order the proper part(see above), and return the one you have.

Joe,

Ordered new part last night. The return process surprisingly easy. They even emailed me a prepaid return shipping label to return the other diffuser.

I'm hoping the replacement diffuser has the correct harness connection. I'll let you know.
