I have a Tappan gas range model #36-3052-23 purchased in 1987. When I go to look for parts they list 3 choices. 36-3052-23-07, 08 or 09. How do I know which model I have if it's not on the model/serial tag? I've had trouble with my oven lighting. The ignitor glows but the oven doesn't light. I figured out if I wasn't using the range top it would eventually light but now it's sporadic or won't light at all. There is also a strong gas smell. I've replaced both the ignitor & the safety valve in the past but how do I know which needs replaced now or do they both need replaced? Also there is a wide range in the price of the safety valve, if that's what needs replaced. They range from $50-$170, depending on the model #. Pre-internet I had repairs done by pros but my husband or I can fix anything if we have the right part. Thanks so much for your help.

If you're getting a gas smell and it isn't lighting I would say the ignitor isn't getting hot enough. If you replace the ignitor I think that will take care of the oven problem. Part # AP2150412

Thanks, I'll try that. After telling my husband what was going on he thought the same thing. Any ideas on knowing the last 2 digits on my model # (07, 08 or 09) for future reference? Thanks again!

I'm not sure about the last two digits, can't rember all the details, but the parts appear to be the same on all three for the most part.
If you look on the parts that are on your unit each should have the part numbers on them, although many have been substituted (like the igniter0
