The washer won't drain after a wash cycle, but it agitates fine. I checked all three hoses and there were no clogs. I replaced the pump but it still won't drain. While I was installing the new pump a brass pin fell from somewhere inside the washer. It doesn't look like it came from the washer: photo[2] | Flickr - Photo Sharing!. It's ~2" long and too thick to fit through the holes inside the washer. No one in the family had ever seen it before so I assume it came from somewhere in the underside of the washer. Is this part of my washer and could the lack of it cause the washer not to drain? If not what other things can I check or replace to diagnose or fix the problem?

Edit:
I'm pretty sure the motor drive shaft was seated properly into the pump. It's flat on one side and won't go into the hole any other way. If it's not seated the clips won't reach.

The pin you found is a shipping pin to stabilize the wash basket during shipment and there are usually 2 on the machine base. When the washer is new and first installed there is a plastic cable that is pulled and it allows these 2 pins to fall down into 2 plastic pockets and out of the way. Yours just fell out of the pockets.
When you replaced the pump, are you sure you seated the motor driveshaft into the pump properly before securing the 2 mounting clips?
