I have a White Westinghouse washer, Model WWS833ES0. Our washer quit mid-cycle with a tub full of water. We called a repair technician. He replaced the pump and motor assembly and washer now drains and runs.

He also said he thought there was a problem with the lid switch and lock so he unhooked it. I wasn't here when this happened or I would have protested.

Anyway, washer now agitates when it fills, then wants to drain almost immediately after filling. The same thing happens on the rinse cycle.

I did discover that if I put slight pressure on the inner knob of the timer dial, the agitation will stop and washer seems to run correctly. Since it looked like the dial wasn't as tight to the control panel as it was before the repair, I removed the knob and dial and took a look. However, there doesn't seem to be any problems, and I can't get them any tighter or flush to the panel.

So, any thoughts on this? Do I have a problem with the lid switch or the timer dial/knob? If it's the switch, how do I get it reconnected?

Thanks!

First of all raise all sorts of cain with the supervisors at the repair service about the tech leaving your led switch unhooked. This is a safety item and should never be disabled. Tell them to get a different tech out immediately to fix it, and if you do not get satisfaction start filing complaints with the consumer protection folks (agencies, BBB, attorney general's office or whatever in your area.)

Tell them you also want the washer repaired at no cost, since the tech did not leave it in a good working condition. It sounds like your timer is the problem, but it could be something with the lid switch. Just get them to fix it, immediately and at no cost.

The only way the repair industry can have good reliable service is if folks like yourself vociferously complain when things are not done as they should be.

Thank you. You are right. I should complain. I am non-confrontational but I wasn't happy with the service I received, and I should let them know and have them fix it right. I will call Monday morning.

Great, keep after them until you are satisfied, and let us know how things work out.
