Maytag Neptune Dryer - Igniter lights - gets hot - heat shuts down after 20 - 30 seconds.

Try this first, before we spend money. Take the vent hose off at the wall, and then run the dryer and see if the heat stays on longer. If so you have a clogged vent to the outside. My other question is, when the gas comes on the first time, and then it cycles off, and the dryer still runs, then the ignitor comes on the second time, does the gas come out? If not, replace the coils on the gas valve. Let me know. Tom ApplianceEducator.com

Igniter lights, heats dryer for 20 seconds. Heat goes off. Igniter lights, heats dryer for about 5 seconds. Heat goes off. Cycle continues to repeat itself.

did you run the cycle with the vent hose off, if not try that. The next thing to do hear if it does not function properly is to change out the coils on the gas valve. Tom ApplianceEducator.com

We have done that. So how do we go about changing the coils on the gas valve.

Replaced heating coils and all is good.:)
