I tryed to pull the coupling off to no avail. ewhat now?

I would try to see if it will unscrew from the motor shaft, then. To do this, you will need to open up the case (screws on bottom), and secure the motor from spinning by inserting a tool like a screwdriver into the armature. Be very careful not to harm the windings of wire. Then try to unscrew the coupling (probably reverse threaded). Don't force it if it doesn't work that way.
