Our Kenmore HE3 Front Loading Wachine Machine is having a problem. The drum is filling with water, anywhere from a couple of inches, to right up to the lip of the door, when the machine is inactive and not even turned on.
We don't know whether we should call a plumber or Sears because the cost of fixing it could necessitate getting a new machine instead of having this one fixed. We also occasionally receive codes (I can't remember specifically what the codes are but F3 seems familiar.....maybe not!) part way through the cycle when we're using it and we simply press start again and it goes away and the washer continues. I'm guessing we should unplug the machine when not in use.............but any ideas what could be wrong. Thanks!

Try unplugging the machine. If water continues to come in you have a bad water valve. They are operated by electricity and if they "weep" when off, it means they have sand, rust, or something keeping the valve open when the power is off.
