I have a GE XL44 that seems to work fine but the F2 code comes on after the oven has been used. It comes on when the oven is cooling down. I have us the circuit breaker to turn the power off (the plug is not easily accessible) and when it cools off it is fine. It started a while ago and now it comes on (and beeps) after every time I use the oven. A real pain.

I am having a hard time finding a appliance repair to come out since I live too far from Anchorage. Can I fix it myself?

Unfortunantly it could be either the sensor or the control board. I would replace the sensor first, and see if that takes care of it. Normally when I run into a F2 on a GE, a sensor takes care of it 90% of the time. Tom ApplianceEducator.com

Thanks for the reply, this is what I guessed. Is the sensor difficult to replace? Any specialized tools and something that an amatuer can handle? Is there a good place to get instructions or is it pretty obvious/comes with the part?

The sensor is in the oven, located in the back of the oven up top. It is a thin rod, held in buy 2 screws. Every once in a while you can pull it out, and unplug the molex plug. But most of the time you have to pull the oven out, and take the back off to unplug the molex plug, to remove the sensor from the front. Not a hard job, need a phillips head screw driver, and little brawn. Tom ApplianceEducator.com

I would first try to cut out the molex plug from the sensor, and hard wire it. May just be a bad connection being so new and all.
