Washer is full of water, the clothes have been washed, the dial shows rinse, an alarm sounded. Now, I can turn the timer dial to any operation and the motor makes a sound but no operation will work.

Well the alarm is a mystery, as there is no alarm on this machine that we know of.

Move the dial to the end of the rinse cycle and see if the machine drains. If it does, check the coupling.
