The through the door ice machine will only produce crushed ice. The switch seems to toggle as designed, between cubed or crushed, indicator light moves when pressed and movement of the switch is felt. Ice is produced as normal. Water dispenses properly and the area light switches on and off. After removing the cover, an inspection of the wire connections seemed normal. No burnt or high heat area's discovered. So much for an easy fix. I am now seeking advice.

Remove the ice maker. With the the door open, either hold the door switch closed with one hand, or tape it closed. Select crushed ice and depress the actuator with your free hand. Observe the solenoid that activates the control rod on the bottom left of the ice maker. Next select cube ice and do the same. If no change (if you don't see [and hear] solenoid action), the problem is either no power to the solenoid, or, more likely, rust build-up on the solenoid plunger. No pwr to solenoid would indicate further diagnosis.

To: magician59 Thanx I did what you advised us to do, only to find out that the ice tray wasn't fully seated. Once placed correctly everything worked fine. Thanx again
