Several days ago, the oven element quit working. We continued to use the oven a couple times after that as the broiler element still worked. Now the broiler element stopped working, as well.
The clock is in the "Manual" mode and the circuit breaker' not tripped.
I pulled both elements and ohmed them out. Both seem good ( one was about 18 ohms, one was about 22 ohms, if memory serves me right ).
I tried reading the voltage at the element terminals. ( read from one terminal to ground ), I'm not sure if my meter probes are not making good contact or if I truly am not getting voltage.
This oven is built into the counter, so accessing the back will be a nightmare.
Thank-you,
Dave

Any thoughts ?

Hi Dave,

It's very hard to say what is wrong with your oven without the wiring diagram. It could be a broken wire, faulty oven thermostat, faulty selector switch (if there is one) or faulty "auto-manual" switch.

The model is so old - it does not come up. If you have the wiring diagram and you can post it then it might help for more accurate advise.

Gene.

Hello Gene,
Unfortunately, I do not have an electrical schematic. The house was built in 1961, and I'm certain this was the original oven/stove. ( We bought the house about 14 years ago).
I was able to pull the connector out for the oven element so I could take a voltage reading. I am getting power to the element when the oven is on.
I guess I'll buy a new oven element tomorrow and see what happens. If that works, I'll buy a new broiler element the next day.
It just seems odd they both ohmed out O.K. and there is no visible damage to either one. I did clean the terminals on the elements, to no avail.

Thanks again Gene.

Best regards,
Dave

If there was 240VAC reading between the two wires and 120VAC between each wire and ground then new heating elements should solve the problem.
