The top of the freezer works but the lower shelves don't freeze. Not sure what to do. Mickey

If this is a unit where the shelves are the evaporator coils then it could be that you are low on freon.
Put a thermometer in the unit so that you can check the temperatures at different heights. Should be 0 to 5 degrees F. Usually the bottom is a little colder as cold air is heavier. |

You would call an appliance repair company that works on refrigerators, most of them do.
I would call them first and get an estimate. This will not be a low cost fix probably a minimum of a couple hundred dollars.
First they have to find the leak and fix it and that is not always possible. It may be leaking in the compressor and that would raise the cost even more. Or it could be in a place that is not repairable. Or they may not be able to find it. Then the sealed system must be evacuated and refilled with freon.
Often it makes more sense to put the dollars towards a new unit. |
