I have a GE model # GSS25JFPAWW that is 4 years old.

The ice maker works but the water dispensr does not.

I changed the waver valve assembly PN AP3192626 and have 120 vac at the solenoid.

The water reservoir - a coil of plastic pipe - is not frozen.

When I disconnect the plastic pipe at the bottom of the hinge/door connector splice and hit the water dispenser switch - I get a flow of water.

How do I replace and/or fix this now?

Thanks,

Rob

Hi Rob,

Sounds like the water line inside the freezer door is frozen up. Did you measure the temperature in the freezer? If it's bellow 0°F then you have to adjust the temperature setting and wait a few days. If it would not help then the door liner has to be removed to defrost the water line.

Gene.

Gene,
Abadfish66,

Thanks much for your input.

In less than a day - turning down the freezer thawed the line and allowed water flow - seems too fast but I'm not complaining.

Thanks again -

Rob

Do you have the instructions for installing the water tube heater WR46X10173?

It's WR49x10173, and The instructions are included with the part. I personally have not put one in yet, but heard it's pretty easy.

After about 3-4 months, the water tube froze up again. I had read that some have tape insulation on the inside of the freezer door to correct this.
Thinking that this might not look too good, I drilled a 1 1/2 in. hole in the inside of the door at the level where the water tube should be exiting out of the outside of the door. (Just under the ice dispenser chute.)
I dug out the insulation around the water tube, and stuffed it with new foam insulation that I got from some packing material. I plugged the hole with a plastic plug that I got at the local Hardware store.
Let's see if this works any better. So far, so good.

So the heater didn't work. That's the kind of thing we have to do to get by these days. Good idea.
