A load of clothes had been started and not knowing this I took some clothes out of dryer and set on top of washer lid and it kicked on and began to finish the load it started. Is there some sort of sensor in the lid area that can go bad? This has been happening for a few days now. We start a load and it stops then put pressure on the right front corner of the lid and it finishes up. Does anyone have any suggestions please.

Please post your model number. But yes, there's a lid switch and it's probably broken or loose.
