Gene,

The ignitor, which I assume is the piece that glows yellow/white is next to the flame spreader. Can you tell me how to remove and exchange it and also what the part number is that I need . Nat gave me a part number but wanted to have me check with you. Is this hard to do myself? Thanks, Joel

The igniter secured with the two screws to the burner. You have to remove the mounting bracket from the old igniter and use it for the new one. Be careful not to touch the igniter coil, the oil from your skin will damage it.

The part number AP2934763, given by Nat, is the right part number.

This job is not too difficult to do it yourself if you know how to use a simple hand tools.

Gene.

Gene,

Thanks for all the help. I ordered the ignitor. Is it okay to cut the wires and attach with wire nuts? I would rather not have to take apart the floor of the oven. Is this okay to do instaed? Thanks again, Joel

Hi Joel,

Yes, you can do this way. You have to use high temperature porcelain wire nuts.

Gene,
I received the oven ignitor and very carefully, (without touching the porcelin) attached the new ignitor with the ceramic wire nuts I also ordered. I left the original wire nuts and cut the old wires to use the new wire nuts I ordered. I attached the ignitor to the rear oven wall using the original metal shield. The new wire nuts were carefully pushed behind the rear stove wall through the opening. When I turned on the oven, the ignitor glowed right away, then sparked and flashed suddenly and burned out. Your sales dept. sent a new ignitor. What happened?? It looked identical but I don't want to have the 2nd one burn out again. The wire nuts they senjt were Large and I think they were much too big but they did not send smaller ones as I requested. I asked that they send the correct size this time. Do you have any advice. Thanks, Joel Wallack

Thats probably what happened and why it was burned out. You can and you have to handle it for the ceramic part ONLY.
