Good morning.
Went shopping Saturday (10/25/2008) and loaded up the fridge.
Ever since, the fridge has not been cooling properly and some items in the freezer appear to be a little warmer.
Weird thing is the ice is still very cold.
Last night, I checked the two areas (could be more or less, I don't know) I thought cool air would flow from and did everything I could to unblock those areas.
The temperature is usually 38 - 40 degrees but the fridge is now a constant 58.
I turned up the dials and that doesn't appear to help.
When I removed the ice bucket last night and checked up there, the ice is still frozen like ice and filled to capacity and cool air still appears to be flowing somehow in order to keep the ice frozen.
I do still hear a noise like a fan is blowing or something.
A round little ice still accumulates and builds up on the left side of the bottom of the cheese/meat drawer. That usually happens if I have the vent open too much.
It seems that no cool air is circulating in the fridge, but again, stuff on the door of the freezer has softened but the items deep in the freezer appear to be okay for now.
Please help and remember I am so a lay person with this.:(

If the freezer is packed too full the air can not get into the refrigerator. You may need to move some of the stuff around or out of that freezer.
That's a common occurance, over filling the freezer.

But would that cause water to come from the fridge?
I forgot to mention that too.
Last night and this morning, water appears to be coming from under the fridge as if it's defrosting or something. Not a lot of water but water nonetheless.
Can packing the freezer too tight somehow cause that?

Is it coming from inside the frige or under neath?
If the defrost drain pan is full it could over flow. It could also be coming from a water valve or line. Possible to have 2 issues that show up abnout the same time.

It appears to be coming from underneath the fridge.
This just started happening last night.
I'm trying to see if there's any correlation with when I shopped and overpacked or is all of this just a coincidence and something was going bad anyway.

I came home and the temperature was 50 degrees, 8 degrees cooler than it was most of yesterday and this morning.
There wasn't visible water on the floor (ceramic) but you could tell that more water had dripped/overflowed/leaked since I wiped it up this morning. The grout lines were a little dark in front of the fridge.
Last night I had rearranged some items in the freezer in hopes that things would have been improved this morning but no results until I came home. Let's not forget I have turned up the thermostat to 9, the highest number on the dials.
I'll let you know what I find tomorrow morning.

You may also want to remove the items in the freezer near the bottom and look for frost or ice buildup there. If there's any present you may be having a defrost problem.

Okay, I'm worried.
The water doesn't appear to be coming from underneath the refrigerator.
It appears to be dripping from the freezer door. What the heck is that all about?
Why would that happen. I forgot the check the fridge this morning for it's temperature but late last night it was still 50 degrees and that's with a whole lot of in and out while cooking dinner and then putting away food.
Why would water be dripping fromt he inside of the freezer door?

If it's coming from the inside of the freezer door it is probably from the water dispenser. As for your temp problem I think your control board on the back of your unit is malfunctioning. Part # WR55X10552 GE has had issues with these boards for a while and this is the latest version of the board. If in doubt I would call a local certified tech and have them check everything out.

Thanks so much for your help.
Is this part easy to repair? Are you referring to the board behind the water dispenser? Do you think it could be anything else?
So you're saying if the main board assembly is bad, that can cause the malfunctioning of the temperature in the fridge.
I guess my question is what could be causing the leak in the door of the freezer?
