Our washer suddenly went completely dead. :( It filled with water today, after working fine yesterday, and stopped. There doesn't seem to be any power to it at all. I can't even hear the timer running. Moving the controls around and turning on and off has no effect. I've checked the outlet it's plugged into and there's power there. Is there a main fuse or something reasonably easy to access?

OK, I think I figured it out. The lid switch sounded funny so I took it out and tested it with my continuity meter. No continuity with the swich in either position between any of the terminals. Could this shut the whole thing down like that?

Looks like a bad lid switch alright. If I bypass it the washer runs. I fitted a new switch and all is well again.
