Looks like the refrigerator was stuck in the defrost mode. I would recommend to replace the defrost timer because it can happen again any time.

- The part number for the defrost timer is AP3861954

P.S. If the refrigerator is less than a year old, call Whirlpool for warranty service.

This part is not too difficult to replace yourself but I would check the warranty first.
