Dishwasher does not turn on. It worked fine previously, but will now not start. Verified power to washer. Door switch seems to be working based on continuity measurment. Unit has 4 buttons that select mode, and a timer knob that turn to start unit. I don't know what all the buttons on the 4-button selector do, but continuity switches on and off when cycle these; i.e., the 4-button unit seems to work. The wires from the 4-button unit go the unit with the timer know. All of these are mounted in the door. Based on info I've read measured 2kOhm across timer motor; apparently this is ok. Not sure how to test selector unit or timer module. Thanks for your help and best regards

Remove the bottom panel and check the power cord connection to the dishwasher for burned wires and/or loose connections.

Check the "on-off" switch, the selector switch and the timer according to the wiring diagram.

Here are the break down diagrams for the Bosch dishwasher Model SMU2046 UC/14 (FD 7402-7902)

Gene,
Thank you for the helpful information.

The inlet wires look fine.

The on-off switch and selector switches operate as indicated in the wiring diagram.

I guess to evaluate the timer contacts (1,2,3,4,6 & 8) I need to step through the 60 positions and and compare the continuity at each position with the diagram you supplied. Right?

Also, any suggestions on turning the timer? The knob and half-round shaft that engage the timer shaft are captured in the front pannel.

Thanks again!!

With all timer wires labeled and removed I rechecked the resistance across the timer motor. It's open circuit. I assume this indicates the motor has failed. Right? Can I purchase the motor only? Do you have a source? Would this cause the operation problem I have described?

I check continuity of timer and it was consistent w/ the diagram you provided. Except, 6-6a (heating) had an extra section at dial positions 42-43.
Connectors 3a and 3b might be loose and have intermitant continuity.

Thanks

Sounds like the timer is bad. The timer motor is not replaceable and you have to order the whole timer.

- The part number for the timer is AP2802778
