The timer om my dryer does not stop and turn off after it completes the permanent press cycle. It stops and turns off on all other settings. I ordered a new timer from Appliance Parts Pro and installed it. The dryer still will not stop at the end of the permanent press cycle.

I don't think the timer was your problem if it was stopping correctly in the other cycles. Instead try changing out the electronic dry control, this part here.

Part number: AP4042285
Part number: AP4042285

If that fixes things, put in your old timer and if it still works you can return the new timer to APP for refund.

Have you cleaned the moisture sensor (Item 33 in Section 8)?

The sensor is two metal strips. The way it works is that when the clothes are wet there will be moisture between the strips. A voltage is applied to the strips and the moisture provides a circuit path so a current flows. The board monitors this current and holds the timer off. When the clothes are dry, there is no moisture therefore no current and the timer is then advanced to off.
So any dirt/crud between the strips will fool the unit into thinking the clothes are still wet and the timer will not advance.

Clean between them with a damp cloth, drying thoroughly. If this does nothing try isopropyl alcohol or electronics contact cleaned. Just be sure that all the solvent has dissipated before trying as it is flammable.

I have a very similar problem. I have not tried other cycles yet. Where are the two metal strips sensor? Where is section 8 or item 33 :-)?

Thanks!

Nevermind, my model is different (FDE336RES2), no such sensor. Sorry.
