dryer drum front felt seal mashed, temperature control problem

Dryer would not start. Drum locked and would not budge. Found mashed felt front seal lodged between drum and housing. Disassembled dryer. Found Bearing and front seal AP3131525 on website and want to know if this is correct replacement.
Also, problem existed before this with dryer cycle temperature. Dryer always on high temperature. Is Dryer cycling thermostat AP3131939 the solution? Is there an electrical test to check?
Finally, despite age and extensive use of machine, belt, rollers and idler pulley look pretty good. Would it be wise to but "tuneup kit" and replace anyway?

The part number for the front seal is correct. The new cycling thermostat should solve the temperature problem. Also I would recommend to clean the exhaust line and the air ducts inside the dryer. Your idea about "tuneup kit" sounds very smart. Here are the break down diagrams for the Whirlpool dryer Model LE9500XTW1Gene.

Before replacing that, jam a cheap metal thermometer in the output ducting and measure the temperature, should be 145-165 degrees.
