About two months ago the gas dryer would only work when the timer was set to the minutes side. It would not start if we set the timer to the other side (level of dryness.) Then about a month ago it seemed to fix itself and we were able to use both settings on the timer. Three days ago the dryer quit entirely, neither side would get it to go. Then after some poking and twisting of the dials, it started up again for about twenty minutes, and the quit for good. I can hear the timer working, and can feel a little vibration in the top console when it is on, but it does nothing.

I opened it up and took a look around, nothing obvious. I took out the thermal fuse and checked it for continuity, came up solid. Checked the thermometer, also solid. I'm a pc technician so I have some experience here, but not much with Ohmmeter, but I followed your guide and think I'm doing it correctly.

Any thoughts on what could cause this intermittent behavior? What should I check next? I'm not too sure how to go about checking the timer. Like I said, I can hear it clicking away, so it's getting some juice.

Start button is good. Door I'm not sure how to check, but it seems it is functioning properly. When the door is closed and I hit the start button I hear the top components start to hum just a little, and the timer starts clicking (reminds me of trying to start a car with a dead battery). When I open the door it instantly stops. It also instantly stops if I turn the dial of the timer to Off. Any other thoughts?

I removed the wires from BK and BU and tested for continuity, but it came up good when the timer was in the "on" position, and "open" (needle didn't move) when in "off" position.

Is there something else I should test on the timer?

Thanks again Gene. Checked both to the best of my ability and the needle went to 1 on each. Not sure if I was doing it at 120VAC or not, it skipped 120 on the dial. Unfortunately for me though the family broke down and hired a professional. He came yesterday, shook the timer, and said it needed to be replaced. Thanks for all the help though!
