My Cabrio washer keeps getting a "OL" code during the wash cycle, even when running without a load in it. Cant possibly be over loaded when it's empty, any info would be greatly appreciated.

Drew,

Your "OL" codes, with the tub empty, indicates, that there's a problem in the drive/ tub system or the fill level.

A couple of easy checks,

a) Remove the cap in the center of the wash plate, then remove the bolt and
plate, and check for clogs and debris under the plate.
b) Reach into the tub and grasp the top of the spin basket and lift up on the
tub, you should be able to lift the tub easily, and as much as 1/2 to 3/4 ",
without it "hanging" up.

Also, have you noticed any leaks under the washing machine, or a light chatterring noise, when the washer first attempts to agitate, or spin ?

Let us know what you find, and we can move on from there.

:) :) :)

No debris present, basket moves up and down. Error f51, unit wont even finish the self diagnostic or manual diagnostic check without going into overload. Do you think it needs the RPS kit? Also no leaks or chattering noises. It wont even go into agitate mode, but it spins and pumps out the water when I restart it on drain and spin mode.

Do a visual on your stator and look for cracks. Sounds like you need to replace the stator assembly. The cabrio has had problems with this ol issue. Whirlpool has a rework kit for this, only if its under warranty.

Are there any specific places on the stator I should look for cracks? Or any other areas/objects that may cause this OL problem? If I have to replace the stator do I need to replace the rotor or RPS also?

If you get the stator assembly it should come with the rps sensor.

Drew,

If you did not have a leak, I don't think you'll need a stator, until you remove it and check the input shaft and windings for corrosion, etc.

What I would reccomend is, the RPS kit.

Part number: AP4327312
Part number: AP4327312

(I think, thats what jamh is referring to).

Follow the instructions carefully, and make sure the sensor mounting plate is properly installed and not over torqued, and you'll be fine.

Good Luck,

:) :) :)

Well I disassembled the rotor and stator, the stator is cracked. No corrosion on the shaft, everything is really clean, surprisingly. I ordered a stator and the kit, but I am wondering whats involved in replacing that wiring harness that comes in the kit. If you guys have anymore info or tricks that I should know about I would and appreciate it and all the info you've supplied me with so far. You have been very helpful :)

Thanks again
Drew

Drew,

It'll be a breeze, as long as you follow the instructions that come with the kit, and re check the connections for tight fits before you test and "button up" the unit.

You'll have it figured out and working in no time.

Received the parts tonight and installed everything, even though no directions where included it was child's play. Ran the self diagnostics and a full load with no problems.
Thanks for all the help.
